<description>The highest ranking Army officer Killed in Action in 27 Years&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;Lt Col Rupert Thomeloe of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, died in Helmand on Wednesday 1st July 2009.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;Trooper Joshua Hammond also from 1st Battalion Welsh Guards was killed in the same explosion, only 1 week &#13;&#10;After celebratining his 19th birthday. All our thoughts and prayers go out to the family  and friends of  each of&#13;&#10;The soldiers.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;This brings the number of British deaths in Afghanistan to 171. </description>
